DHL Volumetric Weight Calculator

DHL Express computes volumetric weight in centimeters and kilograms: length × width × height ÷ 5,000, rounded up to the next 0.5 kg. This tool defaults to metric — the way DHL states its rules.

What this means

DHL applies volumetric weight to every piece — there is no small-package exemption. Chargeable weight is the greater of actual and volumetric weight. A piece is Overweight above 70 kg (actual or volumetric) and must be palletized; Oversize applies when the longest side exceeds 100 cm or (since January 2026) the second-longest side exceeds 80 cm.

A note on rounding

DHL publishes no official dimension-rounding convention. DimCheck rounds each side to the nearest whole centimeter as a documented working assumption; DHL may re-measure and re-weigh pieces at its service centers. Worked example

A 50 × 40 × 30 cm piece is 60,000 cm³ ÷ 5,000 = 12 kg volumetric weight. At 8 kg actual weight, DHL bills 12 kg. The same piece in inches (19.7 × 15.7 × 11.8 in) uses the imperial equivalent: ÷ 139, in pounds.
